Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Cicely Tyson, Anthony Anderson, & ‘Empire’ Scoop Critics’ Choice Nods

Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Cicely Tyson, Anthony Anderson, and ‘Empire’ receive Critics’ Choice nominations.

Nominations for the fifth annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards were announced Wednesday and we are ecstatic to see many of our ICC faves have scooped nods.

Empire” made a huge splash with it’s inaugural season by breaking ratings records week after week! It’s no surprise the show was nominated for Best Drama Series along with Taraji P. Henson scooping a nod for Best Actress in a Drama Series.  The incomparable Viola Davis also scooped a Best Actress nod for “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Orange is the New Black” also snagged a Best Drama Series nomination with Lorraine Toussaint receiving a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nomination.

The legendary Cicely Tyson was honored with a nomination for Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her slayage as Annalise Keating’s mother on “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Black-ish” represented with a Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Anthony Anderson, while Tituss Burgess received a well-deserved nod for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. If you haven’t seen Titus in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” you are doing yourself a disservice.

Selma star David Oyelowo received a nod for Best Actor in a Movie or Limited Series for “Nightingale.”

HBO’s biopic, “Bessie” earned four nominations including Best Movie Made for Television, a Best Actress in a Movie or Limited Series nomination for Queen Latifah, and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Limited Series nominations for Khandi Alexander and Mo’Nique! Yassss baby!
