Antoine Edwards Arrested For Murders Of Toya Wright’s Brother

New Orleans police have arrested a suspect in the 7th Ward murders of Toya Wright‘s brothers last July.

Antoine Edwards, 31, was arrested on March 9 and charged with second-degree murder for the shooting deaths of Joshua Johnson and Ryan “Rudy” Johnson.

The brothers were found dead inside a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox with multiple gunshots just after midnight on July 31, 2016.

The arrest warrant affidavit sworn by NOPD homicide detective Theo Kent says multiple tipsters told investigators a man known as “Toine” or “Tweezy” was responsible for the killings. The man, in at least one instance, admitted the shooting to others, the affidavit said.

The warrant said Edwards was identified as the suspect with those nicknames and that “several witnesses” picked his photo from lineups.

But while the warrant links Edwards to the shooting resulting in two men’s deaths and mentions no other suspects, his arrest is only for one count of second-degree murder. The warrant says Edwards was identified as being “in the area during the time the incident occurred and as the subject who produced a firearm and shot the victims in this incident.”

NOPD did not immediately respond to questions seeking an explanation for the single count of second-degree murder in the double homicide.

Edward’s bond is set at $500,000. He is set to appear in court on May 7.

Hopefully, justice will be served.
