STXfilms has scooped the domestic rights to The Best of Enemies, the drama starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell.

Via The Hollywood Reporter:

The movie, which is based on the book The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South by Osha Gray Davidson, centers on the unlikely relationship between Ann Atwater (Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis (Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader.

The duo reluctantly co-chaired a community summit, battling over the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina, during the summer of 1971.

I first wrote about this project and Taraji playing the role of Ann Atwater three years ago!

It’s great to finally get an update on the film. I can’t wait to see it!
