Straight Outta Compton makes history at the box office!
N.W.A.‘s F. Gary Gray-directed biopic, Straight Outta Compton, took the no. 1 spot at the box office bringing in a whopping $60 million making it the biggest-ever August debut for an R-rated movie.
“The movie tapped into something in our culture and that made it more of a must-see,” said Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.
The film opened in 2,757 theaters and has doubled the $29 million budget to make the film, which is setting the stage for a very profitable summer.
