Stephon Marbury Is A Permanent Resident Of China
Stephon Marbury is the man in the streets of China.
The former NBA star has become the first foreign-born basketball player to receive his “green card” to become a permanent resident of China.
On Monday (April 18), Marbury, who lead the Beijing Duck basketball team to three championships, was presented with the People’s Republic of China Foreigner’s permanent residence card by deputy Mayor of Beijing Zhang Jiandong.
Stephon Marbury left the New York Knicks in 2010 to reinvent himself in China. He was welcomed with open arms and became an instant star.
In 2014, Steph was named as one of China’s 10 “model citizens” and an honorary citizen of Beijing.
Now, he’s officially a citizen.
