Stephen A. Smith apologizes to Rihanna
Twitter

Stephen A. Smith has issued an apology for the remarks he made about Rihanna during his appearance on the “Sherri” show.

When asked if he was excited about Rihanna’s performance during the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show, Stephen noted that while she is “spectacular”…she’s not Beyoncé.

Stephen A. quickly drew criticism and received backlash for the unnecessary comparison between the amazing artists.

A short while after a tweet popped up on this Twitter timeline that read, “Apologies to Rihanna for my words, gotta be more careful! Her fan base might be worst than the Beehive! 😓😓😓”

The tweet was quickly deleted and replaced with the following video apology.

Stephen A. Smith also issued an apology for the now-deleted tweet and blamed his social media management team for the blunder.

Horrific mistake. Something that was suppose to be a fun moment on the Sherri Shepard show has gotten out of hand.

An overzealous member on my MGMT team — which has access to my account — posted something I would NEVER say about @rihanna, her fans or any other artist.

The post…Has been removed. My social management team will never make a mistake like this again.

My apologies again to @Rihanna. And just to be clear, I’m a huge fan.

Sherri and I were just having fun. That is all.

Regardless of the apology, the streets of Twitter are still buzzing about Stephen A. Smith’s “horrific mistake.”
