Sawyer Sweeten dies of an apparent suicide.
Child actor Sawyer Sweeten (left), best known for his role as Geoffrey Barone on “Everybody Loves Raymond,” died of an apparent suicide on Thursday (April 23). He was 19.
According to CBS News, Sawyer was visiting with family in Texas when he shot himself on the front porch.
Madylin Sweeten, Sawyer’s sister, released a statement confirming his passing. She also begged everyone to reach out to their loved ones.
This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.
Sawyer’s on-screen father, Ray Romano, is heartbroken by the news of his passing.
I’m shocked, and terribly saddened, by the news about Sawyer. He was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around. Just a great energy whenever he was there.
My heart breaks for him, his family, and his friends during this very difficult time.
Such a sad situation. My prayers and condolences to the Sweeten family.
