Young Thug - YSL Trial jury selection delayed contraband

The lengthy jury selection process in the highly publicized YSL trial against rapper Young Thug and others is taking even longer due to contraband being smuggled into the courthouse.

Jury selection began on January 4, 2023, and so far there have been three separate incidents of contraband being brought into the courthouse.

On Tuesday (January 17), the mother of Deamonte Kendrick was arrested after allegedly bringing “tobacco products” to her son in a bag of clothes, according to her arrest warrant.

The mother, who said she had no idea what was inside the sealed envelope in the bag, was charged with one count of criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor and released on Wednesday on a $1,500 bond.

Kendrick is an Atlanta rapper known as Yak Gotti

He is charged with multiple counts in the case, including murder.

His attorney, Doug Weinstein told deputies that he received a text message from the mother of Kendrick’s child stating she had placed a sealed envelope inside the bag.

A warrant was also issued against Yak Gotti’s baby’s mother for criminal attempt with intent to commit a specific crime.

On Wednesday, the YSL trial proceedings were delayed when one of the defendants, reportedly Kahleiff Adams, who is currently serving a life sentence, was transported to Grady Hospital after contraband was found.

Adams is charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, attempted murder, and two counts of participation in criminal street gang activity.

Last week, Fulton County Chief Judge Ural Glanville said an unidentified person brought clothing to one of the defendants with marijuana hidden in the shoes.

The catch is all 14 defendants must be present in the courtroom for the hearings to proceed.

In addition to the issues with smuggled contraband, there have also been issues with jurors.

This YSL trial is going to take longer than Season 3 of “P-Valley.”
