The memorial sign marking the spot where Emmett Till‘s body was found is now riddled with bullet holes.

The sign, located in the Tallahatchie River, two hours north of Jackson, Mississippi, has more than 40 bullet holes in it.

Till was just 14-years-old when he was beaten and murdered in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman.

Filmmaker Kevin Wilson, Jr. discovered the disheartening vandalism while scouting the area for a location to film a project.

He posted the photo on Facebook, which has since gone viral.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the marker has been vandalized. The first time was back in 2008. No one was ever arrested for it.

The Emmett Till Interpretive Center in Sumner, Mississippi, is currently raising money to replace the sign.

I’m thoroughly disgusted. Your thoughts?
