Sinbad learning to walk after stroke

Sinbad is making “remarkable” progress, according to his family.

The legendary comedian and actor suffered an ischemic stroke on October 25, 2020, after a blood clot traveled from his heart to his brain.

The day after Sinbad underwent a thrombectomy to remove the clot, another clot formed forcing him to undergo another thrombectomy.

He was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where doctors discovered his brain had begun to swell.

Sinbad underwent a craniotomy to relieve the pressure on his brain and to reduce the swelling.

During that surgery, doctors discovered a bleed.

The comedian returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator.

Weeks passed before Sinbad “would open his eyes, speak, or show signs of basic mobility.”

He couldn’t move his left side or hold his head up.

In May 2021, Sinbad was admitted to the California Rehabilitation Institute where he began physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

It was there that he started to “make considerable progress toward recovery.”

On July 7, 2021, Sinbad was finally able to go home.

He’s continuing his therapy and still learning to walk again.

I am not done. I will not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.”

Sinbad’s family has launched his website, TheJourneyForward.Life, to share the details of his health crisis and his journey forward to recovery.

The family has also noted that “the costs of therapy far exceed what insurance covers and it has taken its toll on the family financially.”

They are accepting financial gifts that will go to the Adkins Trust “to help provide for Sinbad’s car and help him continue to fight this battle.”

Sinbad is currently trending on Twitter as people react to the news of his stroke and share an outpouring of love and concern.

Sending love and prayers to Sinbad.

You got this, King!
