Showtime cancels White Famous

‘White Famous’ Canceled

Showtime has pulled the plug on “White Famous” after one season due to poor ratings.

The half-hour comedy series, produced by Jamie Foxx, starred Jay Pharoah as Floyd Mooney, a talented young comic on the rise in the industry, which forces him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility while crossing over into becoming “white famous.”

Via Variety:

The comedy starring “Saturday Night Live” alum Jay Pharoah drew a small audience of under 2 million viewers in multiplatform airings. Reviews were mostly negative for the series about an

African-American comedian struggling to maintain his credibility with his core audience while also striving to crossover into becoming “white famous.”

I didn’t love the show, but I tuned in from time to time to support it.
