“Shots Fired” Atlanta Screening
Fox, The Black Women Film Network (BWFN), and Morgan Stanley hosted an advance screening of “Shots Fired” at the Center for Civil and Human Rights on Thursday (March 1).
The 10-hour event series created by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood is an explosive look at the criminal justice system. When an African-American police officer kills an unarmed white college student, a small town in North Carolina is turned upside-down. Before the town has a chance to grapple with this tragedy, the neglected murder of an African-American teen is brought to light, re-opening wounds that threaten to tear the town apart.
Sanaa Lathan stars as investigator Ashe Akino, Stephan James is Special Prosecutor Preston Terry, and Tristan Wilds is Deputy Joshua Belk.
The Atlanta advanced screening of “Shots Fired” brought out a host of celebrities and influencers including creator Reggie Rock Bythewood and cast members DeWanda Wise and Jill Hennessy. Immediately, after the screening, they participated in a Q&A session moderated by Egypt Sherrod.
Da Brat, Joseline Hernandez “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”), Crystal Fox (“Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots”) Dionne Farris, Gocha Hawkins (“L.A. Hair”), Jasmine Burke (“Saints & Sinners”), D. Woods, April Parker Jones (“Tyler Perry’s If Loving You Is Wrong) and many more also came out the get a first look at the forthcoming series.
