Essence magazine features Shonda Rhimes and the stars of Shondaland.
Essence magazine has outdone themselves with six gorgeous covers for their October 2015 issue featuring the incomparable showrunner Shonda Rhimes and the stars of the “TGIT” house she built.
Three covers features leading ladies, Kerry Washington (“Scandal“), Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder“), and Chandra Wilson (“Grey’s Anatomy“).
The remaining covers feature “HTGAWM” stars Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, and Aja Naomi King as well as “Grey’s” stars James Pickens Jr., Jerrika Hinton, Jason George, and Kelly McCreary.
In Essence’s in-depth feature of Shonda, she credits the great relationship she has with all of her stars saying, “I like the fact that we all get along. I feel like you’re supposed to be happy at work. If you’re not happy, then you are in the wrong place.”
Chandra shared how Shonda has inspired her to be fearless saying, ” The thing I learned the most from her is not to be afraid of yes. I see her exemplify that all of the time in her personal and professional life.”
Kerry agreed adding, “To have Shonda as an example of somebody who is living life fully and attempting to bring the best version of herself to so many different areas of her life has been really powerful for me.”
