He was 81.
The news of Senator McCain’s passing comes one day after his family released a statement saying he was going to discontinue treatment for Glioblastoma.

Glioblastoma is a particularly aggressive tumor that forms in the tissue of the brain and spinal cord, according to the American Brain Tumor Association.
John’s daughter, Meghan McCain, released the following statement regarding her father’s passing:

Cindy McCain, John’s wife of 38 years, took to social media saying her “heart is broken.”
My heart is broken. I am so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years. He passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved, in the the place he loved best.

Sending love and prayers of comfort to the McCain family during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, John McCain.
