We’ve heard Nicki Minaj‘s side of the story during her in-depth interview with Angie Martinez and now Safaree Samuels is breaking his silence on what ended his 15-year relationship with the Queen of the Barbs.
Safaree stopped by “The Breakfast Club” on Tuesday morning to tell his side of the story because he felt slighted by the public shade and shots Nicki has been firing at him on social media.
Choosing his words carefully and annoyingly sucking his teeth in-between every couple of words, SB gave up the scoop while still keeping it respectful.
I’ve highlighted a few notable quotes from Safaree Samuels convo on “The Breakfast Club” below.
On Nicki calling him corny:
I would never do anything publicly to try to pull her down. Whatever happens between me and her…one on one…it is what it is. You know? That’s personal. I would never put that out there. I could be out here telling a million stories and doing cornball sh*t like that.
But, I’m not going to do that. I never would do that. I never plan on doing that. I just think it’s crazy for her to come out now and try to be pulling me down. Trying to say I’m corny. I don’t care who you with. Who you with that don’t mean nothing to me. I want you to move on because I’m moving on. I walked away from the situation.
On the break up:
I walked away. I’m not going to say I ‘broke up,’ but I walked away. I’m the one who packed my stuff and I left.
It just got to the point where the respect was gone. Everyone around her works for her.
It got to the point where…it was like ‘I’m your man, I’m who you go to sleep with every night and who you wake up with every morning.’ And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee instead of like her man.
On losing himself:
I was getting to the point, you know, in this past year…I just feel like as a person, outside of her, I just feel like I lost myself. And even now…not being in a relationship it’s like learning how to walk and crawl again. You know?
On if he still loves Nicki:
Of course I do! I’m not up here saying I don’t love her and I hate her. That’s my soulmate…we just can’t be together.

I actually feel sorry for Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels.
They obviously still love each other, but they let the fame and the business tear them apart.
