Four Major Sponsors Drop Ryan Lochte
Welp…Ryan Lochte couldn’t lie his way out of losing four major sponsors.
Speedo, Ralph Lauren, Gentle Hair Removal and mattress maker Airweave are severing ties with the Lochte after he admitted to lying about being robbed at gunpoint while in Rio.
In a statement Speedo eloquently told Ryan, “Boy Bye!”
While we have enjoyed a winning relationship with Ryan for over a decade and he has been an important member of the Speedo team, we cannot condone behavior that is counter to the values this brand has long stood for. We appreciate his many achievements and hope he moves forward and learns from this experience.
Ralph Lauren, who signed the swimmer to an endorsement deal for the Olympic games, said they will not be renewing his contract. They’ve already snatched his picture off of their official website.
On Monday, Gentle Hair Removal’s parent company, Syneron-Candela released a statement saying Ryan Lochte’s lie..ahem fly no longer matches their fly.
We hold our employees to high standards, and we expect the same of our business partners. We wish Ryan well on his future endeavors and thank him for the time he spent supporting our brand.
The scoop on the street is Macy,s is also trying to distance themselves from Lochte. They’ve removed advertisements featuring Ryan from their stores.
According to Macy’s it’s nothing more than a change in their marketing.
