It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I report to you Ahmad “Real” Givens has passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was 33.
The former VH1 reality TV star was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in March 2013 and immediately began treatment to save his life.
At one point, Real appeared to be making progress with his treatments and he was taken off of one of his chemo treatments because his tumors had shrunk tremendously.
However, in October, Ahmad’s cancer had spread and was worsening in his liver and lungs.
In December, Real, who gave his fans frequent updates along his battle, posted a photo of a scar on his stomach from a surgery he underwent to remove tumors. But, he also informed his fans that he was completely taken off of chemo because it wasn’t working anymore.
Here is a pic of my scar from surgery a couple months after,or shall I say my battle wound lol. This was the surgery where they removed tumors from my rectum and left side of my liver……So yesterday they took me off chemo completely cause none of it works anymore. So I have about 4 clinical trials to choose from which look really promising. My tumors have a rare mutation and supposedly they have new medicine to target the my tumors. Its suppose to stop the tumor mutation from spreading and shrink the tumors. So we will see.I don’t let this stuff bring me down,I just roll with the punches.Love Yall and have a blessed day.
Unfortunately, things began to take a turn for the worse by January.
On his birthday, (January 2) Real thanked his fans for the love and shared a photo of his mom and grandmother loving on him as he lay in bed fighting for his life.
Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes.I haven’t feeling god lately and here is a pic of mom and grandma hinging me in bed.I truly appreciate all the birthday wishes and your continued love and support.I’ll keep you posted shortly.God bless and love you all.
