Karen Bass, the U.S. Congresswoman for California’s 37th District, is very confident that President Joe Biden will be signing the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act into law very soon.

Bass introduced the bill in June 2020, and she’s been working closely with South Carolina Senator Tim Scott who’s spearheading efforts to gather enough Republican votes to get the bill passed.

Republicans have numbers in the Senate to stall or kill the bill, but Bass believes the House and the Senate will produce the necessary votes to pass the bill.

Bass says the goal is to make policing more accountable and transparent.

The bill aims to ban chokeholds, no-knock warrants, profiling, and set national standards for police training, among other things.

Bass says she believes we have an 80% chance of the bill passing and in a couple of days she might be willing to raise it to 90%.
