It’s with a heavy heart that I report Chicago rapper King Von was fatally shot in Atlanta early Friday (November 6) morning.

Von, real name Dayvon Daquan Bennett, was just 26-years-old.

Via the AJC.com:

The latest incident began shortly after 3 a.m. when an argument between two groups turned physical in the parking lot, Peek told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution from the scene.

“That physical altercation escalated into an exchange of gunfire with those groups,” Peek said. “Two police officers who were working at that particular club, or lounge, noticed the altercation and engaged some of the people involved. There was an exchange of gunfire with police as well.”

Two men were dead at the scene, and a third later died at a hospital. Two more gunshot victims and the person hit by the vehicle were stable Friday morning.

Below is a statement made by Atlanta PD early this morning:

This is the most recent news report from 11 Alive:

King Von was initially listed in critical condition.

Unfortunately, it was confirmed he did not make it.

King Von was slated to drop the official music video for his latest single, “Armed & Dangerous” today.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations has taken over the case.

My sincerest condolences to all who knew and loved King Von.

STOP THE VIOLENCE.
