Rachel Roy has released a statement to People denying she’s “Becky with the good hair,” JAY Z‘s alleged side chick referenced in Beyoncé‘s single, “Sorry.”

The fashion designer claims her Instagram post stating “good hair don’t care” was actually a joke that was misunderstood.
I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.
Unfortunately, Rachel played herself and the Beyhive went on the attack. When they were done feasted on Rachel, they moved on to her teenage daughter, Ava. That was when the online shenanigans went TOO FAR.

Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable.
I would hope that the media sees the real issue here – the issue of cyber bullying – and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.
Rachel Roy even pulled out of a public appearance at a seminar called “Mastering Your Métier” in New York City, where she was a scheduled speaker. Rachel cited “a personal emergency” for her absence.
Listen, Rachel knows the Beyhive is crazy.
Unfortunately, Rachel bought all of this madness on herself by trying to be funny.
What’s even more unfortunate is Rita Ora is now the new “Becky.” SMH….
