R. Kelly is absolutely “miserable” in solitary confinement, according to his attorney Steve Greenberg.

The R&B singer, who is incarcerated on a multitude of sex crimes including assault, trafficking, and abuse, is very emotional and his spirits are low.

Greenberg says his client is dealing with untruths about his situation and struggling with being alone.

He’s dealing with a lot of stories that have been made up. He’s not a fighter. I’ve seen him cry when he talks about the situation.

He has a stage persona who is used to having people around him all the time. His life in solitary is now minus TV. No radio. No music. And no books.

Having books really wouldn’t matter because Steve Greenberg continually mentions R. Kelly is basically illiterate so he’s incapable of ready the Bible he has and although he receives tons of fan mail, reading it is a task because he only recognizes a few words.

He’s also a spiritual guy, has a Bible with him in his cell, but he can’t read it. It’s basically there for comfort.

Now he’s been placed in the MCC’s ‘SHU’ — a cell in solitary confinement away from the jail population and is constantly being moved from cell to cell. He has only the guards to talk to.

But he is receiving plenty of [fan] mail, which is 97% positive and he pores over it.

And, I swear, every time I visit him, he’s dressed in a different colored jail suit.

Speaking of visitation, Greenberg said one of the R. Kelly-ettes was able to visit the singer via video, but he didn’t know if it was Joycelyn Savage or Azriel Clary.

Welp. Last time I checked, jail wasn’t a fun place to be. I know I was miserable when I got locked up. *shrug*

I do feel solitary confinement isn’t good because it can have long term effects on people mentally, however, they requested it for the singer’s safety.
