It appears the “Blurred Lines” verdict, which ordered Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke to  Mavin Gaye’s family $7.3 million for borrowing his hit 1977 hit single, “Got To Give It Up” has inspired Jermaine Dupri to pull Ciara‘s card.

Robin Thicke & Pharrell Williams Lose ‘Blurred Lines’ Lawsuit – Ordered To Pay Marvin Gaye’s Family $7.3 Million!

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Jermaine says Ciara’s new single, “I Bet” is a complete rip off of Usher’s 2001 smash, “U Got It Bad.”

Ciara’s new single is a complete rip-off of Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad.

I’m clear on what I made and I’m clear on how music influences people and I’m clear on chord changes and how people move things. … It might not be as evident as the ‘Blurred Lines’ situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me.

Jermaine Dupri said he, Usher, and Bryan Michael-Cox immediately noticed the similarities in the Harmony Samuels-produced single written by Ciara and Rock City.

Not only that…Jermaine says “I Bet” also sounds like Tamia‘s beautiful single, “Still,” a song he also produced. (So, is J.D. low-key admitting all of his songs sound alike?)

Jermaine Dupri says he plans to contact Ciara and the producers of the song to request he, Usher, and B. Cox receive their proper credit.

So far…Ciara’s people have declined to comment or return phone calls about it.

Listen to the songs below and let me know if you think the songs are similar or if Jermaine is tangled up in his feelings.
