With a heavy heart, British singer Sam Smith informed his fans that he has to undergo surgery to repair his ongoing issues with his vocal chords.

Last week, Sam was forced to cancel his Australian tour due to hemorrhages on his vocal chords. He said then that doctors advised him to fully rest his voice to allow healing before it becomes a “huge long-term issue.”

Unfortunately, the “Stay With Me” singer’s chords aren’t healing and now the singer will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks after he undergoes vocal chord surgery.

In a post on Facebook, Sam Smith says he’s “gutted” to miss all of the show and events he was scheduled to be playing at.
