Poppy is getting pulled! “Trolls World Tour Giggle and Sing Poppy” is being snatched off store shelves amid complaints the doll promotes child abuse.
The doll is designed to giggle when placed in a sitting position, but the issue is the sound activation button is placed under Poppy’s skirt and between her legs.
A petition launched by Jessica McManis reads:
This is not okay for a child’s toy! This toy needs to be removed from our stores. What will this toy make our innocent, impressionable children think? That it’s fun when someone touches your private area?
A Facebook user posted a video demostrating how the doll works:
Hasbro spokeswoman Julie Duffy told The Providence Journal the company recognizes the sensor placement “may be perceived as inappropriate.”
This was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our consumer care team. We are in the process of removing the item for purchase.
Hasbro said Wednesday that it’s in the process of removing the doll from the market and will offer customers a replacement doll of the popular female character.
