Sacramento police killed a 22-year-old unarmed black man in his own backyard on Sunday (March 18).
Stephon Clark, a father of two, was fatally shot trying to get into his grandmother’s house after police responded to a robbery call in the area and assumed he was the suspect.
Police initially claimed Stephon was armed with a “tool bar.” Then, that story changed to he had a gun, which turned out to only be a rose gold iPhone 6.
Stephon Clark’s grandmother, Sequita Thompson, recounted the heartbreaking details of the night police fired 20 shots at her grandson in her backyard.
Like clockwork, police had already released the details of Stephon’s criminal history while they conduct a “full investigation.”
Meanwhile, the family has launched a GoFundMe to collect money for his Stephon’s burial.
He lives behind two sons, a 3-year-old and a year-old.
