Nas receives W.E.B. Du Bois Medal from Harvard University.

On Wednesday night, Nas was honored with the W.E.B. Du Bois Medal during a ceremony at Harvard University.

The iconic rapper, born Nasir Jones, received the prestigious honor for his significant contributions to African and African-American history and culture, intercultural understanding and human rights.

Other honorees included former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, boxing great Muhammad Ali, Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Investments, artist Carrie Mae Weems, Marian Wright Edelman of the Children’s Defense Fund, and Charlayne Hunter-Gault, journalist and the first black woman to enroll at the University of Georgia.
