A Phoenix dad has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for beating a man to death who tried to get into his teenage daughter’s bathroom stall inside of a QuikTrip convenience store.
41-year-old Melvin Harris III confronted the man after his daughter told him what happened and an altercation ensued.
Harris admitted to punching Leon Armstrong in the face. Armstrong suffered a severe brain injury and died a few days later.
Witnesses claim Harris punched Armstrong to the ground and continually beat him before leaving.
Melvin Harris III was initially charged with second-degree murder, but he agreed to a lesser charge of manslaughter as part of a plea deal.
Harris said he was defending his daughter.
