Philando Castile shot and killed by Minneapolis police during traffic stop

Philando Castile Shot & Killed By Minnesota Police

It’s with a completely weary heart and soul that I report 32-year-old Philando Castile was shot and killed by Minnesota police during a traffic stop hours ago.

According to Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, they were pulled over for a “busted tail light.” When the officer approached the vehicle, Philando informed him he had a firearm in his possession, and a conceal-and-carry permit.

As he reached for his license, the officer demanded to see his hands. As Philando raised his hands, the officer fired four to five shots into him.

After police removed Diamond’s young daughter from the vehicle, she immediately went “Live” on Facebook to document and live stream what had just taken place.

Philando is seen slumped over in the driver’s seat with a blood soaked shirt and his arm is badly injured.

Diamond explains:

We got pulled over for a busted tail light…they killed my boyfriend.

He’s licensed to carry. He was trying to get out his I.D. and his wallet out of his pocket and he let the officer know that he had a firearm. He was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm.

He just shot his arm off!

The officer, who still has his weapon drawn on Philando, yells, “I TOLD HIM NOT TO REACH FOR IT! I TOLD HIM TO GET HIS HANDS UP!”

Diamond responded, “You told him to get his I.D., sir…and his driver’s license.”

When Philando went unconscious, Diamond pleaded, “Oh my God, please don’t let him be dead!”

The video was viewed over a million times in less than two hours before being snatched down by Facebook.

Philando Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, says he died at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Diamond is still in custody.

The story is developing….
