Patrick Xavier Clark indicted with murder of Takeoff
Houston Police Department

Patrick Clark, the man accused of killing Migos rapper Takeoff, has been indicted by a Harris County grand jury on murder charges.

Takeoff, born Kirsnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot around 2:30 a.m. on November 1, 2022, outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston following a private party.

According to police, Takeoff’s uncle, Quavo, began arguing with two men who had just won money off a dice game.

A physical fight broke out and two men opened fire, Cameron Joshua and Patrick Clark.

Joshua, 22, also known as “Lil Cam,” was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Police said it was the two shots from Patrick Xavier Clark’s gun that struck and killed the 28-year-old rapper because of the “direction” he was seen firing the gun on surveillance video.

Authorities said Clark was also holding a wine bottle at the time, which he left at the scene and police were able to lift fingerprints off of it.

Clark, 33, also known as “DJ Pat,” was arrested on Thursday (December 1, 2022) and charged with murder.

According to court documents, Clark applied for an expedited passport right after Takeoff’s murder by submitting an itinerary for a flight to Mexico.

When he was arrested Clark had the passport and a large sum of cash on him.

Patrick Clark’s attorney says the indictment was not unexpected due to a “minimal standard of proof” and that she expects her client to be proven innocent throughout the course of a trial.

Read her full statement below.

Today’s action by the grand jury is not unexpected.

We would ask people to remember that getting an indictment requires meeting a very, very minimal standard of proof.

When we get inside a courtroom and in front of a jury, where we will be able to put on our evidence and cross-examine the state’s witnesses – where the standard of proof is guilt beyond reasonable doubt – we expect the jury will come back with a verdict of not guilty.

In January, Patrick Clark was released from jail after a “concerned citizen” paid his $1 million bond.
