Selenis Leyva is opening up about the mixed emotions she felt when she saw Caitlyn Jenner‘s big reveal on the cover of Vanity Fair on Monday (June 1).
The “Orange is the New Black” star says while she felt pure joy, excitement, progress, possibility and change, she also felt a deep sense of sadness because the acceptance Caitlyn received isn’t the norm for most transgender people…including her sister, Marizol Leyva.
In her new column for The Huffington Post, Selenis wrote, “The reality is that most transgender people continue to struggle with acceptance. Most will not be celebrated and put on magazine covers.”
