First, the Fat Boys break up…now Jesse Lee Soffer has announced his plans to leave “Chicago P.D.”

The actor, who has played the role of Detective Jay Halstead since the hit NBC series premiered will be exiting the show during Season 10 this fall.

In a statement to Variety, Jesse shared:

I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates and our incredible crew.

To create this hour drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show.

I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.

Jesse Lee Soffer is a veteran in Hollywood, who has been acting since he was six years old.

He made his debut as Jay Halstead on Season 2 of “Chicago Fire,” but some of you may remember him from his soap opera days on “As the World Turns.”

Jesse/Jay will be sorely missed on “Chicago P.D.,” but I wish him well in all of his future endeavors.

In other “Chicago P.D.” news…Benjamin Levy Aguilar, who guest starred in the Season 9 finale as Dante Torres, has been upped to a series regular.

Dante Torres is a rookie in intelligence coming up from patrol.

Season 10 premieres on NBC Wednesday, September 21, at 10 p.m. ET.
