Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby has been charged with first-degree manslaughter for the shooting death of Terence Crutcher, an unarmed black man.

Shelby shot and killed Terence on September 16 in north Tulsa. Video released showed Crutcher with his hands up.

Tulsa County DA Steve Kunzweiller said a warrant was issued for Shelby’s arrest and arrangements are being made with her lawyer to turn herself in to authorities.

 

Terence Crutcher’s family is expected to speak on the charges later today.

While the charges are a step in the right direction, we’ve done this dance before and we know the outcome when the music stops playing.
