During a hearing on Monday (May 20), a family court judge ruled that Nipsey Hussle‘s sister, Samantha Smith, will retain custody of the late rapper’s 10-year-old daughter, Emani Asghedom.
Samantha, who has been caring for Emani since her father’s passing, filed court documents seeking legal guardianship of her niece because the family does not feel her biological mother, Tanisha Foster, is fit to care for her.
Tanisha took to social media saying she was ready to “rise to the occasion” for her daughter, but it just wasn’t enough.
After the hearing, TMZ caught up with Tanisha, who goes by Chyna Hussle on social media, to get her reaction to the court’s decision and she simply said, “I’m pissed off.”
Samantha took to Instagram and posted a selfie of herself with the caption, “I am my Brothers keeper ??”

Tanisha currently has a warrant out for her arrest stemming from an old DUI case from a few years ago. It’s unclear if that had an impact on her custody case.
Now, the focus will be on setting up visitations for Emani and her mother.
