Netflix’s hit docuseries “Tiger King” has been the talk of the town since it was released on March 20.

Now, the popularity of the show, which chronicles the shenanigans and tomfoolery of Joe Exotic, has sparked an influx of new tips in the cold case of Don Lewis‘ mysterious disappearance.

After watching “Tiger King,” your spidey senses will lead you to believe Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin killed her hubby and fed him to tigers.

It’s a claim and rumor Carole vehemently denies.

She recently told the New York Post:

He’s been trying, since 2009, to get his minions to kill me.

He was constantly going on his internet show, saying that he has to get rid of me. It was very disturbing. The kinds of people who back up what he does are not stable people.

It would be one thing if he went out to mainstream America. But he was going out to a group of wack-jobs.

In a recent blog post, Carole pointed out why the notion of her grinding up Don and feeding him to the tigers is far-fetched:

This is the most ludicrous of all the lies. As Gladys and the daughters did everything they could to make life difficult for me after Don disappeared, they spread this rumor that they thought I had ground Don up and fed him to the cats. And the media loved it.

The meat grinder shown in the video was enormous. Our meat grinder was one of those little tabletop, hand crank things, like you’d have in your kitchen at home, like the one pictured here.

Meat had to first be cut into one-inch cubes like you see here to go through it. The idea that a human body and skeleton could be put through it is idiotic. But the Netflix directors did not care. They just showed a bigger grinder.

Carole’s current husband, Howard Baskin, even tried to refute claims made in “Tiger King” in a YouTube video:

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister took advantage of the momentum of the show and seized the moment by reopening Don Lewis’ cold case.

Since Sheriff Chronister put out the bat call, he’s been receiving an average of six tips a day regarding Don Lewis’ 1997 disappearance.

We are already receiving new tips and we hope to close this cold case soon with the help of the public. Since the documentary came out we’ve been receiving about six tips a day related to this case. We are looking into each one thoroughly.

Like any case at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office we want to bring closure to the families involved and the community. We are seeing greater interest in this case thanks to Tiger King and we encourage anyone who knows something to call 813-247-8200.

Have you watched “Tiger King?” What are your thoughts on the show and the disappearance of Carole Baskin’s ex-husband?
