Netflix has finally stopped beating around the bush!
On Wednesday, the streaming service announced their hit series, “Stranger Things” has been renewed for season 2 and will return in 2017.
Writers/ creators Matt and Ross Duffer will develop nine new episodes. They’ll be joined by fellow executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
The Duffers teased the possibility of a second season this month when they met with critics at the TCA Summer Tour. They explained how they approached their show to make a second outing possible while still resolving the first season’s storyline.
“There’s definitely some dangling threads at the end,” Matt Duffer said. “It’s open-ended so that if people want it, if Netflix wanted it, we could explore that and continue the storyline.”
The supernatural drama has received critical praise and a lot of buzz since it premiered on Netflix on July 15, and it’s definitely high on the list of shows subscribers are watching.
According to stats provided by Symphony Advanced Media, Stranger Things was just behind Orange is the New Black and Fuller House in viewership within its first 35 days on Netflix.
