The NBA teamed up with Louis Vuitton to make the league’s first travel case for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the league announced on Wednesday.

“It is a unique first partnership for us and the first partnership of this kind for Louis Vuitton with a North American sports league,” NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum told USA Today Sports.

“They have a history over the last decade or so of doing this kind of trophy case for some of the other big global sports like the FIFA World Cup trophy, the Roland Garros and Davis Cup trophies, the Rugby World Cup, but this is the first time they are partnering with a North American sports league to do this.”

The case took six laborers 100 hours to make at Louis Vuitton’s famous workshop in Asnieres, France, near Paris. The case features the classic LV monogram all over with a large white V – for victory – that has NBA’s blue and red trim on the front. The interior of the case is lined with blue micro-fiber, and there are two small drawers for storage.

At first, I thought why does the LOB trophy need an LV case, but after seeing the case I guess it does add some elegance to the presentation.

Are you scooping or scrapping the new LV case for the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy?
