Kanye West - Drink Champs - George Floyd

Just two weeks after gushing about how he was “finally proud of himself,” N.O.R.E should be immensely ashamed of himself for giving Kanye West a platform on “Drink Champs” to spread his egregious ignorance.

Earlier this week, Maverick Carter, CEO of Springhill entertainment and production company, announced they were pulling Kanye West’s episode of “The Shop” because he was incapable of having a respectable discussion.

Yesterday we taped an episode of ‘The Shop’ with Kanye West.

Kanye was booked weeks ago and, after talking to Kanye directly the day before we taped, I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion and he was ready to address all his recent comments.

Unfortunately, he used ‘The Shop’ to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.

We have made the decision not to air this episode or any of Kanye’s remarks.

While ‘The Shop’ embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate.

I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation and apologize to our guests and crew.  Hate speech should never have an audience.

All of this was after Kanye wore White Lives Matter t-shirts, attacked everyone who spoke out against them, and made anti-Semitic remarks that got him booted from social media.

But, N.O.R.E. chose clout over the Black community and (proudly and excitedly) gave Kanye West his platform.

When the 3-hour interview with Kanye West was released, “Drink Champs” offered the following message:

We know #BlackLivesMatter & Ye does as well! ✊?

Our conversation with our brother @KanyeWest is 3+ hours!

So please watch the FULL EPISODE before coming to any conclusions.

See the original post below.

Let’s be honest, N.O.R.E. built a fun and sometimes salacious platform where he encourages his guests to get sloppy drunk so he can get the real tea out of their convos.

But, with all due respect, the rapper-turned-podcaster is not equipped to wrangle in Kanye’s deeply rooted foolishness and carry on a real conversation that would hold Donda West‘s son accountable for his inexcusable f**kery!

Kanye West Claims George Floyd Died From Fentanyl

One of the most disgusting remarks Kanye made during his “Drink Champs” interview was his claim that George Floyd, who was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020, actually died from fentanyl.

Kanye was feeling emboldened in his beliefs after attending the premiere of Candace Owens‘ new documentary, “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.”

He told N.O.R.E.:

I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out.

One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes.

They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.

During Derek Chauvin’s murder trial, medical experts testified that even though Floyd had traces of fentanyl in his system, Floyd died from a lack of oxygen caused by the knee on his neck.

George Floyd’s death was a homicide. The whole world saw it and Derek Chauvin was convicted.

Kanye West On Virgil Abloh’s Death

Sadly, Kanye didn’t stop there. He also alluded to Louis Vuitton being responsible for the death of fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

Virgil passed away in November 2021 after a private battle with cancer.

He was 41.

Kanye told “Drink Champs,” This white company Louis Vuitton is now making statues of him as a martyr, and we don’t know why exactly [he died], they said it was cancer.”

Stephen Jackson Reacts

Former NBA Star and “All The Smoke” podcast host Stephen Jackson took to social media on Sunday morning to react to Kanye West’s remarks about George Floyd.

Stephen and George were best friends and he referred to him as “twin.”

In the video posted on his Instagram page, Stephen encouraged folks to call and talk to George’s loved ones not “opportunists.”

Don’t talk to opportunists! Cause that’s what you doing!

Cause the same time when all of this George Floyd sh*t was going on everybody was screaming ‘George Floyd this…George Floyd that!’

Cause everybody was trying to make money off somebody else’s pain!

But, that ain’t the hustle no more. The new hustle is talking about him and dissing him!

All that sh*t is weak! All y’all clout-chasing. All y’all look sad.

Candace Owens Reacts

Candance Owens took to social media to defend Kanye West while simultaneously promoting her documentary.

She retweeted the clip of Kanye talking about George Floyd with the caption:

Did you watch the documentary? I mean how ignorant are we going to be?

Kanye is accurately referring to the trial— everything was clarified in the George Floyd trial where they showed the full arrest tape from different angles.

YOU WERE LIED TO. WAKE UP. #GreatestLieEverSold

Social Media Reacts To Kanye West’s ‘Drink Champs’ Interview

Social media is buzzing in response to the “Drink Champs” interview with Kanye West that never should have happened.

One viewer criticized N.O.R.E. for not holding Kanye accountable.

“Next time Nore give him some real TOUGH love/criticism. Don’t pander to him because of who he is. Real friends need to be held accountable and right now he needs that more than ever!!!”

Another viewer commented, “This is why drink champs didn’t deserve that award because it’s more important for views then addressing real issues they way the should be.”

Shame on N.O.R.E. Shame on DJ EFN. Shame on “Drink Champs.”

Of all the hills to die on. They chose Kanye. What a way to tarnish the legacy and platform they were building!

My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of George Floyd and Virgil Abloh.

Kanye West no longer exists in my world.
