Shortly after the news of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, Gianna Bryant, and seven others, MSNBC anchor Alison Morris appeared to have slipped up and said the N-word during her report.

While recalling the team the retired NBA legend played for, Alison appeared to have said, “The Los Angeles n***ers.”

I received a video of the report shortly after it aired, but I did not want to add insult to injury, so I did not post the story.

After the clip went viral on social media and people were understandably up in arms, Alison took to social media with the following tweet:

Earlier today, while reporting on the tragic news of Kobe Bryant’s passing, I unfortunately stuttered on air, combining the names of the Knicks and the Lakers to say “Nakers.” Please know I did not & would NEVER use a racist term. I apologize for the confusion this caused.

See her tweet and a witty response below:

Kobe never played for the Knicks, so this explanation makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

It’s unclear if MSNBC will buy Alison Morris’ claims or what punishment, if any, she will face.

Did you hear “Nakers?”

Unfortunately, Alison Morris (with two Ls), a Security Correspondent and columnist in Northern Ireland has been confused by many for the MSNBC anchor and she’s been enduring an online swoop down for almost 24 hours!

She tweeted:

I appear to have unwittingly and quite bizarrely found myself in the middle of an American race row in a case of mistaken identity with a US journalist of the same name! #WrongAllisonMorris

See her original tweet below:

If you’re going to swoop down, make sure you aren’t swooping on an innocent person.

Sheesh!!

See the petition calling for Alison Morris’ termination.
