The Revenant Review
Remember Tupac’s song, “Hail Mary”? When he said, “I ain’t a killer but don’t push me. Revenge is like the sweetest joy next to gettin’ [email protected]#$%.” Was he right? Is revenge really THAT good?? I guess that could be up for debate but I do know one thing: Revenge is subjective. That person who was always picked on in high school can use revenge as a tool to attain their goals later in life, become a huge success, show up at the 10-year class reunion and rub it his tormentors’ faces. Is that right or wrong? That woman who financially supported and stuck by her derelict of a man only to be betrayed by him by getting another woman pregnant can use revenge – cheating on him with his best friend – to inflict the same pain he inflicted upon her. Is that right or wrong? “Vengeance is mine” can be countered with “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. Which is right? Which is wrong? In the new movie, “The Revenant”, Leonardo DiCaprio teams up with revenge as they go head-to-head with insurmountable obstacles. Will this film finally help Leo seek revenge on all those past Oscar snubs, or will we want to seek revenge on this film by wanting our dayum money back? Let’s go!
