Soul Food sequel - More Soul Food

The Joseph family will be cooking Sunday dinner again!

Fox 2000 has announced More Soul Food, a sequel to the classic 1997 film, Soul Food, is officially in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel “will chronicle the new, millennial generation of the Joseph family. In the age of cell phones and social media, the once-close clan finds themselves disconnected and, without the guidance of the elders who have always held things together, they struggle to rediscover the importance of tradition and family.”

George Tillman Jr., who wrote and directed the original film, is already working on the new script Nathan Skulnik. Babyface and Tracy Edmonds will produce the film along with Tillman’s State Street Pictures.

Soul Food opened in theaters on September 26, 1997 and starred Vanessa Williams, Vivica A. Fox, Nia Long, Michael Beach, Mekhi Phifer, Irma P. Hall, Brandon Hammond, and Gina Ravera.

No word yet on which, if any, original cast members will be returning for the sequel, but it would be fantastic if everyone returned.
