When tragedy strikes, how do you react? Offering support and condolences as comfort to those who aren’t in your immediate circle is normal. You send prayers up; your sorrow intensifies for their loss. That’s normal. Flowers and cards are normal. When tragedy comes to your own doorstep, however, “normal” becomes nothing more than a six-letter word with an empty meaning, especially if said tragedy is unexpected, sadistic and vile in nature. When tragedy takes over your entire being, when grief engulfs your very soul, rationale becomes an after-thought. And when you actually encounter the perpetrator of your pain, the flesh of evil staring you right in the eye, do you want to become what he or she already is? You want revenge – you know you do.
