Lee Daniels‘ Richard Pryor biopic is shaping up to be something special.
According to Variety, Eddie Murphy has joined the cast as the late comedian’s father, LeRoy “Buck Carter” Pryor, a World War II vet and boxer.
Lee Daniels teased the great news via Instagram by posting a photo with Eddie with the caption, “Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthisone! #excited #proud #OMG”
I’m sure being a part of this project is very special to Eddie Murphy who has always said Richard Pryor inspired him to do stand-up comedy.
Richard’s the one that made me want to do comedy. When I was little I used to sneak into my basement and put his albums on.
Mike Epps has been tapped for the lead role as Richard Pryor and there are rumors that Oprah Winfrey and Kate Hudson may jump on board with supporting roles.
Either way…I definitely plan to check out this project when it’s released.
