Scarface Remake In The Works

Tony Montana…Tony Montana… (Future voice)

Antoine Fuqua is in talks with Universal to direct the third remake of the 1983 classic crime drama, Scarface.

Here’s the scoop via Deadline:

The new one borrows the immigrant rags-to-riches story but presents it in contemporary Los Angeles. Jonathan Herman wrote the most recent draft, and Paul Attanasio and David Ayer wrote previous versions. The film is a Bluegrass Films and Global Produce production. The film will be produced by Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark. Marty Bregman, producer of the 1983 Scarface film, also will produce.

I’m on the fence with this one. Mainly because I can’t think of anyone who could star as Tony Montana.

The good news if Antoine signs on as director – it’s going to be lit!
