Mother Of Charleston Church Shooter Dylann Roof Suffers Heart Attack In Court, Judge Rejects Mistrial Request

The mother of the Charleston church shooter, Dylann Roof, suffered a heart attack during the opening statements of his trial on Wednesday.

Amy Roof sobbed as she apologized to family members and court security after she dropped to the floor in the courtroom.

She was helped out of the courtroom and taken to the hospital where she was treated for a heart attack.

Dylann’s attorney’s pathetically tried to use the incident as grounds for a mistrial.

Via NY Daily News:

Details of the health scare emerged Thursday as Roof’s lawyers mentioned the incident in an argument for a mistrial in the trial’s second day.

“Highlighting the emotional nature of the proceedings, the media noted that following the opening statements, the defendant’s mother required emergency medical attention,” read the defense filing.

“She was admitted to the hospital with a heart attack.”

Richardson had just finished an opening statement where he charged that Roof marched into the Emanuel AME Church with a Glock handgun, dozens of bullets and a “cold and hateful heart.”

The mistrial request was rejected and the trial proceeded on Thursday.

I’m sorry, but it’s going to take more than a heart attack in the courtroom to get that racist mass-murdering psycho off scott free!
