Mossimo Giannulli was sentenced to five months in jail for his role in the college admissions cheating scandal.

U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel Gorton dragged the fashion designer in court for callously taking advantage of his privilege.

I see lots of drug dealers, gun runners, and people who have committed violent crimes who’ve grown up without role models sometimes being abused themselves.

You are not stealing bread to feed your family. You have no excuse for your crime. That makes it all the more blameworthy.

You are an informed, smart, successful businessman. You certainly did know better and yet you helped sponsor a breathtaking fraud on our system of education and involved your wife and your two daughters in cheating and faking their ways into a prestigious university.

In addition to his prison sentence, Mossimo Giannulli was ordered to pay a $250,000 fine and perform 250 hours of community service.

Giannulli and his wife, Lori Loughlin, were part of a network of wealthy parents who paid thousands of dollars to William “Rick” Singer, a California man who boosted their children’s chances of getting accepted into elite colleges.

She is scheduled to be sentenced later today.

Giannulli was ordered to report to prison on November 9.
