Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines stabbed to death in New York.
Morgan Freeman‘s step-granddaughter was attacked and stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
E’Dena Hines, 33, was stabbed several times in front of W. 162nd St. near St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights just before 3 a.m.
When police arrived, they found her boyfriend standing over her body screaming incoherently. He was arrested and taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
E’Dena was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
E’Dena Hines’ grandmother, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, was Morgan’s first wife. After their divorce, Freeman and his second wife, Myrna Colley-Lee, adopted E’Dena and raise her.
In 2012, E’Dena released a statement shutting down rumors that she and Morgan Freeman were engaged in a romantic relationship and planning to get married.
The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media design to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being [picked up] by the legitimate press as well.
These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also very hurtful to me and my family.
We’re sending our love and prayers to E’Dena’s family during this difficult time.
Morgan Freeman released a statement thanking everyone for the outpouring of love and support.
I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M
