Two teenage girls have been charged with felony murder after an armed carjacking in Southeast DC led to the death of Uber Eats driver Mohammad Anwar.

Mohammad, 66, was in a gray sedan on Tuesday, when two girls, 13 and 15, assaulted him using a stun gun and attempted to steal his car.

Eye witnesses noticed the struggle between Mohammad Anwar and the girls and began to record the incident using their cellphones.

At one point, you hear Mohammad, who was hanging out of the driver’s side door, scream, “This is my car,” as the engine revs.

The girls floored it as bystanders screamed in horror! The car careens down the road and the driver’s side door slammed into railings and a light post.

Seconds later, the vehicle crashed and flipped on the driver’s side door.

Mohammad Anwar was ejected from the vehicle and is seen laying on the sidewalk mortally injured.

Men dressed in military gear helped one of the teens out of the car. The other teen was able to get out on her own.

Bystanders began to yell the girls stole his car.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to a crash on the 1200 block of Van Street in Southeast around 4:45 p.m.

Mohammad later died at the hospital.

A GoFundMe has been set up to financially support his family during this difficult time.

It reads:

Mohammad Anwar was a hard-working Pakistani immigrant who came to the United States to create a better life for him and his family. He was simply at work yesterday evening, providing for his family, when his life was tragically taken in an appalling act of violence. The details are still being investigated, however we know that Anwar was working on an UberEats delivery when two assailants attempted to carjack him in Navy Yard.

Anwar was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly.

Words can not describe how our family is feeling currently. Devastation, confusion, shock, anger, heartache, and anguish are just a few that come to mind. We will carry him with us always, but it doesn’t take the pain away of losing him so tragically and so unexpectedly soon.

My sincerest condolences and prayers to the Anwar family.
