The state of Michigan is expected to announce a $600 million settlement with residents who were impacted by the Flint water crisis that began in 2014.

The details of the settlement, that has been in negotiations for over a year and a half, are still under wraps.  

Michigan Department of Attorney General Dana Nessel said:

We and the other parties are bound by a federal court order to maintain the confidentiality of detailed settlement and mediation communication until we reach a certain point.

No amount of money can replace the lives lost and the health issues that many have suffered during the Flint water crisis, but the settlement is the least the state could do.
