Michael McCary was one of six men who entered Iyanla Vanzant’s House of Healing on her hit series, “Iyanla: Fix My Life.”
For the first time, the former Boyz II Men singer opened up about his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis and how it forced him to leave one of the biggest R&B groups of all-time.
I have MS. I sent me into a depression. They [doctors] put the fear of God in me.
I was in Boyz II Men when I first saw some of the ailments start to happen. It was like little back spasms at first and then they would get stronger and stronger. So, each time it would get more harsh.
Once I was about 22, it started to go into full scale. They were saying that I have a nerve around the sciatica that was locked around the sciatica that could sever if I step wrong. It was a possibility that you could be paralyzed.
Michael McCary is in the House of Healing to deal with his issues of abandonment and the anger he has towards Wanya Morris, Nathan Morris, and Shawn Stockman for moving on without him.
I want to get over the hurt and abandonment that I feel from the group that I’ve been with for so long – that I gave my life to. I want to be able to go into a room with them and not feel like I want to choke them.
I gave my life. 300 days out of every year for over 15 years. All of a sudden it changed. It was like, ‘Nah, you’re that one that’s sick. We not sick. We’re still going on the road.’
So, that’s what I meant by I felt abandoned and it makes me want to choke them.
