Mariah Carey Explains Why She Still Doesn’t Know J. Lo
For years, Mariah Carey has thrown major shade at Jennifer Lopez. But, the most talked about jab was when she said she didn’t know the Latin super star.
During a recent interview on “Watch What Happens Live!,” Mariah addressed the shady moment saying, “That was so long ago, I can’t believe people still make such a big deal out of it.”
She went on to offer an explanation of why she still doesn’t know J. Lo.
You know what? I’m very forgetful. Apparently, I’m forgetful because I don’t remember that fact that it was just like, ‘Hi, I’m so and so’ and just move on.
And then, like ‘Hi,’ and that’s it. If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you I’d be like, ‘I don’t know him, but he seems cool’ or ‘I don’t know him.’
When asked if J. Lo seems cool, Mariah paused and responded, “I don’t know her. Like, what am I supposed to say.”
Mariah explained:
I’m not going to put on a thing like ‘Oh, we’re all Hollywood and let’s just all pretend we’re best friends cause we’re all in that land.’
It’s no offense to anybody. The question was about Beyoncé and I was saying, ‘I think she’s super talented. She’s a friend of mine. She’s always been sweet to me. She’s always been very cool.’
Then, they asked me another question and I was just like, ‘I don’t really know’ – I don’t know how I said it, but I just said, ‘I don’t know her.’
It’s not like I don’t know who she is. Of course, I do. That’s not the question.
